How to play WotsThat: guess the picture in the Daily puzzle and Play game

At midnight UTC a brand new Daily goes live: the same image and the same answer for every player in the world. It stays up for 24 hours, then a fresh one takes its place. No sign-up needed: anyone can play, and signing in just means your points and streak get saved.

The image starts hidden. Hit Reveal and you see the whole picture. It doesn't change or unblur any further while you play. Type as many guesses as you like; there's no limit on a normal day. Spelling doesn't have to be perfect, close answers count, and a hint appears under the image if you're stuck. Stuck for good? Give up and we'll tell you what it was, plus a fun fact.

Guess on consecutive days to build your Daily Streak. It's counted separately from the classic Play game, and miss a day and it's gone. Today's Daily board shows the fastest solvers and the longest streaks going. When you finish, share your result card: it shows your guess count and your time, never the answer.

Got a bizarre close-up, a weird angle or an object nobody could name? Upload it with the answer and an optional hint. Every wrong guess anyone makes on your picture earns you a point, so the more baffling it is, the better you do.

Sign in and scroll through the unsolved pile. Hit Reveal to see the picture, which doesn't change after that, then type what you think it is. Close answers and typos still count. Guess as many times as you like at a sensible pace, or give up to see the answer and a fun fact. Whoever gets it right first solves that picture for good and it leaves the pile.

Points from solving, stumping and sharing feed the monthly Overall board. You don't have to wait to see how you're doing: the This Month page shows the current month's standings live, updating as people solve, and a live badge tracks your own rank as you play. When the month closes, the Leaderboards page shows that completed month, the Hall of Fame keeps every month's top five forever, and the Overall Points winner gets a WotsThat book, free.

Both games score the same way: the faster you get it right after revealing the image, the more you bank. Suspiciously instant answers (under a second and a half) don't count.
