What you're looking at
A Rubik's cube is one of the world's most iconic puzzles, sitting on desks, shelves, and in hands of millions trying to solve its colorful challenge. You normally see it as a complete cube with nine colored squares on each face, measuring about 5 centimeters across.
When photographed at extreme magnification, a single face becomes an alien landscape of raised plastic ridges, glossy paint, and geometric patterns. The close-up strips away all context, revealing just texture and color without the familiar cube shape, making it incredibly hard to recognize what you're looking at.
Look for raised grid lines, glossy colored surface, and regular geometric patterns that suggest a manufactured puzzle or game.
