Cherry stem surface (macro)

What you're looking at

A cherry stem is the thin, woody connector between a cherry fruit and its branch. You'd normally see these small stems attached to fresh cherries at the grocery store or picking directly from cherry trees in spring and summer. They're so familiar that most people barely notice them.

When photographed at extreme magnification, the cherry stem's surface transforms into an alien landscape of ridges, grooves, and cellular structures. The bark-like texture with its intricate patterns becomes almost unrecognisable because we never see everyday objects at this scale. The regular striations and pitted surface that are invisible to the naked eye suddenly become the dominant visual feature.

Look for parallel ridges and bark-like texture patterns that suggest a thin woody stem or twig surface.
